MAHADISCOM Junior Engineer Exam Syllabus

In this syllabus, we are focussing on core and non-core topics categorized based on the subjects.

Core Subjects (Technical)

Electrical Circuits and Networks:

Electrical laws and theorems (such as Ohm’s law, Kirchhoff’s laws, Thevenin’s, Superposition, Norton’s theorems, etc), Transient and steady-state analysis of RLC circuits, Sinusoidal steady-state analysis, Resonance, Two-port networks. And solve network analysis problems regularly.

Control Systems:

Study block diagram of control system, Signal flow graph, Feedback system, Transfer function, Controller, and Compensator.

For the stability analysis focus on the Routh-Hurwitz criterion, Nyquist plots, and Bode plots,

Electrical Machines:

Study the machines (including the electrical Transformers and Motors) with working principles, characteristics, applications, and performance analysis with efficiency, losses, and testing methods.

Practice examples related to electrical transformers.

Power Systems:

Understand the basics of power generation, distribution, and transmission systems. Study the protection and switchgear devices, Load flow studies, and Fault analysis.

Measurement and Instrumentation:

Study the different types of analog and digital measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, and energy meters, along with their principles of operation and applications.

Power Electronics:

Focus on basic semiconductor devices (like as diodes, transistors, thyristors, rectifiers, choppers, and inverters) and their problems, Operational Amplifiers, and Logic gates.

Microcontrollers:

Concentrate on the basics of microprocessors and microcontrollers.

Non-Core Subjects (Non-Technical)

General Knowledge:

Stay updated with current affairs (National and International) through newspapers, magazines, and online portals. Additionally, prioritize studying Indian History, Geography, Economy, and Politics.

Mathematics:

Review fundamental mathematical concepts such as algebra, calculus, probability, statistics, matrices, and determinants.

Logical Reasoning:

Cover series completion, analogy, classification, logical deduction, puzzle solving, and logical reasoning questions.

English Language:

Improve grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, sentence correction, synonyms, antonyms, and other grammar concepts.

Computer Awareness:

Study the fundamentals of computers, operating systems, MS Office, internet and email, and other networking concepts.

MahaVitaran Junior Engineer Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for the MSEDCL Junior Engineer typically includes the following details:

  • The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  • The sections are included with technical and non-technical subjects.
  • Each question is assigned a specific mark, as outlined in the MSEDCL notification. Negative marking is applicable for incorrect answers.
  • The exam duration is typically 2-3 hours.
